Description

All these monuments are integrated in the oldest nucleus of the village, next to the river. From the 1940s onwards, with the development of the railway, cork and textile activity flourished. Then, several workers' quarters began to be built, coming from all over the country, which ended up giving the oldest village in the municipality the character of a working-class village. Today, the inhabitants of this parish work mostly in the secondary sector, although in the Barra Cheia area it is common to find small farms.
